What are pump shaft sleeves?

Pump shaft sleeves are replaceable cylindrical components fitted over a pump shaft to protect sealing, packing, spacer or bearing-related areas. They provide a controlled wear surface so the sleeve can be replaced or restored without changing the main shaft, subject to the pump design and drawing requirements.

Yes. A sample can be reviewed together with photos, material information and any known fit or surface-finish requirements. A drawing is still preferred when tolerances, runout or coating thickness are critical.

No. RF Machining focuses on custom pump shaft sleeves, collars and bearing-related sleeve components made according to customer drawings or samples rather than universal standard sleeves.

Which materials can be used for custom pump shaft sleeves?

What machining processes are used for pump shaft sleeves?

Typical work includes CNC turning, ID and OD machining, drilling, tapping, groove machining, polishing and partner grinding when specified. Critical fits, runout and roughness are reviewed before quotation.

Can surface treatments such as hard chrome, QPQ or Stellite be arranged?

In-house machining is separated from partner processes. Stellite / cobalt-based alloy hardfacing can be reviewed as an in-house operation when the drawing defines the overlay area and inspection requirements. Hard chrome plating, nitriding, QPQ, heat treatment and coating requirements can be arranged through long-term partners when specified.

What information should be included in a pump shaft sleeve RFQ?

Please send the drawing, material, quantity, tolerance, surface treatment, hardness or roughness requirements and any sample photos. If the sleeve is for a centrifugal, chemical, marine or boiler feed pump, application notes also help the review.
